WHAT IS CUTTING BALL COMMONS?
We recognize that our greatest resource is our space and we need YOU, our community, to activate it. Therefore we want to provide our community with a FREE space to work and more, while we have dark moments in our season.

WHY ARE WE PROVIDING THIS SPACE?
In dedication to our purpose we are continuously looking for ways to give back and pay it forward to our community. Being a working theater, our space availability is always in flux which creates great opportunities to fill those gaps. We understand that certain times of the year are better suited for different needs and are happy to make those accommodations when possible.
Our Black Box space can be used for:
- Screenings
- Community Meetings
- Closed Invitation Events
- Mutual Aid/ Resource sharing Events
- Rehearsal Space
- Self-Taping Studio
- and More!

WHO CAN ACCESS THE SPACE?
This space is intended for our community members. The TL, BIPOC, LGBTQIA, Indigenous/Ramaytush Ohlone, Non-Profit and Grass Roots Community Organizations, & local artists. As well as community organizers in need of a place to hold a meeting, theater makers in need of a safe place to devise a new work, Drag Queens who needs a quiet place to practice their lipsync, and more!

Available Tuesdays & Thursdays
BOOKING REQUIREMENTS
- Please leave notation of the event type/services needed in the space provided
- Appointments booked less that 72hrs in advance may be denied, please await conformation
- Weekend booking can be requested with a minimum 3 week notice (availability subject to venue/facility calendar)

- Wifi
- Printing (B&W Only)
- Office supplies/ Meeting Materials (pens,paper, masks, water)
- Tables and Chairs
- Laptops
- Projecting Screen
- Personal Lighting for filming/photography
- Performance art coachings (upon request subject to staff availability)
GUIDELINES
- Must agree to follow COVID Safety protocols
- Leave the space the way you found it policy (community takes care of each other and we need your support keeping our space clean)
- Booking under 72 hr notice may be denied, please await confirmation
- All attendees (meeting organizers and guests) must sign a waiver attached to your booking confirmation and available in person

CREATIVITY CLOSET
This is a year-round FREE service offering artists and Tenderloin community members access to the space and art supplies free of charge. Cutting Ball is proud to be a part of Broad Room’s first cohort of the California Art Supply Mutual Aid Training Program to bring the Creativity Closet to the Tenderloin.
ABOUT THE CLOSET
- Free Community Art Closet available to all
- A mutual aid project created to provide tenderloin community members access to creativity
- This is a place for youth to try new art techniques or for artists to re-up on the products they need to complete a project.
