COVID-19 Safety Plan
- Masking is encouraged but not required for most performances; select dates are masked mandatory and will signify so when booking.
- Cutting Ball Theater’s ventilation (HVAC) system, with MERV-13 rated filtration, will be operating at all times that individuals are in the building.
- Lobby doors will remain open to the street, providing outdoor ventilation, during pre-show and intermission.
- Cutting Ball Theater will maintain free-standing air purifiers in the lobby and performer dressing room, operating at all times that individuals are in the building.
- Hand sanitizing stations will be available at the building’s entry and at the entrance to the restroom. Hand sanitizer will be available on any surface frequented by personnel, including tech table and dressing room stations. Hand sanitizer will also be available on any surface frequented by patrons, including the Box Office stand.
- Between every performance, audience seating, lobby surfaces, and high touch-points throughout the building (including seats, hand-rails, door handles, push-bars, faucet handles, light switches, and hard scenic surfaces) will be disinfected.
- Cutting Ball will also have the entire theater professionally cleaned twice per week during performances so no more than two public performances are held without an interim cleaning.
- All personnel - including front-of-house representatives, Stage Manager, and onstage performers - are empowered to “pause” the performance if, at any time, they observe that an audience member has removed their mask and causing the individual to feel uncomfortable or unsafe. The performance may resume once all audience members are properly masked. House Manager or another front-of-house representative will frequently visit the venue, at scheduled intervals throughout the performance, to ensure patrons are in compliance with masking protocol.
- Option 1: If an Actor is onstage they can exit backstage and notify Covid-Safety Officer of the person’s seating location. Covid-Safety Officer will inform House Manager and Stage Manager. HM & SM will coordinate either approaching the audience member if it is non-disruptive or pausing the performance.
- Option 2: If an Actor is onstage, they can call “HOLD” while onstage and tell the audience that someone is not masked and the performance cannot continue until everyone is masked. When everyone is properly masked, actor can say “Thank you, let’s continue” and resume the performance.
- Option 3: If a front of house member or notices an unmasked audience member, they can approach the audience member if it is non-disruptive or coordinate with SM to pause the performance.
- Cutting Ball Theater will provide a digital program, accessible through QR code, as an alternative to a hardcopy program. We will also display a large print out of the program in the lobby.
- To prevent unnecessary crowding in the building for prolonged periods, Cutting Ball Theater’s building will open to patrons no sooner than 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start of performance.
- Cutting Ball Theater will reduce audience capacity to 50 seats max and will not otherwise distance audience seating. Contact box office to discuss self distancing options.
- To support contact tracing, Cutting Ball Theater will maintain contact information records for every party in attendance at performances.
- Signage will be posted to encourage all individuals to report incidents of positive COVID-19 diagnosis that could have resulted in an exposure at Cutting Ball Theater to boxoffice@cuttingball.com
- In the event of a potential exposure, Cutting Ball Theater will immediately notify the primary ticket holder of each party. We encourage the primary ticket holder to notify the rest of their party.
- Cutting Ball Theater will maintain at least one certified COVID-19 Compliance Officer on-site at all times during performances.
Cutting Ball Theater’s COVID-19 Safety Plan remains subject to change, in consideration of evolving pandemic circumstances and shifting health and safety guidance and ordinances from (but not limited to) the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the California Department of Public Health, and the San Francisco Department of Public Health.
