Cutting Ball Theater's COVID-19 response

Dear friends of Cutting Ball,

We’re writing with tough news: due to the surging Omicron COVID-19 variant, we have decided to postpone our upcoming show: Honestly, I’ve Never Wanted to Bash Someone in the Head with a Baseball Bat More Than I Do Right Nowlovingly known, behind the scenes, as Bash.

At Cutting Ball, maintaining a safe workplace – where artists are cared for, to focus fully on the creative process – is our commitment. As we saw the Omicron variant surge, with spiking infections and sweeping theater closures in New York and now locally, we knew that we couldn’t keep artists safe enough during rehearsals, or audiences during performances.

And we’ll be transparent: we’re devastated by this decision. After nearly two years, we’ve been ecstatically preparing for our big return to the theater. But we also know that this decision is the right one: because the health and safety of our artists and audiences has to be the priority. And that big return to the theater is still coming – and soon.

In spite of this shaky start to our 2021/2022 Season, we are eager to welcome you back to the theater with The Real Sappho in April and May. New production dates for Bash are to be announced along with Cutting Ball’s 2022/2023 Season. If you are a Bash ticket-holder or a Cutting Ball subscriber, our Box Office will be in touch shortly regarding your order.

For Cutting Ball, this last-minute postponement of Bash is a creative loss with significant financial impact. A full team of artists, ready to start work in a matter of days! Our set, built and already installed! At Cutting Ball, we’re committed to supporting artists through pandemic instability and that means paying Bash production artists. If you’d like to help Cutting Ball cover costs for this shuttered production, we’re very gratefully accepting donations: cuttingball.com/donate

We know things are hard right now – really, really hard. Thank you for sticking with us, even through these setbacks. Our theater will reopen and, we promise, it will be worth the wait.

With gratitude,
