Dear friends of Cutting Ball,

I am writing to share the bittersweet news that our wonderful Executive Artistic Director Ariel Craft will be transitioning to a new opportunity outside Cutting Ball. Ariel has been an important part of this company for seven years — the last four in her current position. We are eternally grateful for her amazing contribution to Bay Area artists and patrons, and to our Tenderloin community.

Cutting Ball is taking this moment to ensure that our work continues to be part of an exciting movement to make theater a vital, inclusive, and accountable art form that centers historically-excluded voices and experiences, and challenges the norms of how stories are told. With that as our guide, our board and staff are working together to envision the future — how we operate, how we tell stories, and how we build on the great work that Ariel and the Cutting Ball team have created over the years.

We invite you to engage in this change with us by coming to a show, making a donation, and letting us know what you think about our direction. And please join us in person at The Real Sappho to wish Ariel well and thank her for all she has done for us over her many years at Cutting Ball!
